Thought of the day: If you think WoW has been “dumbed down” recently, just wait until Blizzard is heavily courting the FarmVille-type players when their partnership goes live with Facebook and Real ID is truly in full swing. The forums piece is just the tip of the iceberg.
What I think happened: The allure of the cash numbers being tossed around whenever Zynga was mentioned was just too much for Activision/Blizzard (read: Bobby Kotick) to ignore.
What I think will happen: If you’re not willing to play their game on their terms – letting everyone and their brother know when you’re logged into a Blizzard game - they don’t really need you. You’re not advertising for them.
Don’t worry, they’ll replace you with the masses they intend to pull in from Facebook.
Bold Prediction: Housing makes its way into WoW in 2011. What more could the FarmVille crowd want? Heck, you might even be able to have a farm where you can grow your own cooking mats.
Sadly, I’m serious.
