Friday Update

I finished King’s Bounty: Armored Princess the other day – it was a very entertaining game, and I think I played it for somewhere upwards of 80 hours total. Definitely worth the purchase if you enjoy Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Fantasy General, or Heroes of Might and Magic (so I’ve read). Don’t be like me, though, and miss that the “Orcs on the March” or whatever it is campaign from “King’s Bounty: Crossworlds” (it was the expansion pack to Armored Princess that came in the Steam deal) is actually a re-make of the Armored Princess game world with new units, quests, and gear. Basically, play that one instead of the original version. I have no intention of re-running that game world again so soon. I’ve started on King’s Bounty: the Legend (which I should have played first, technically and chronologically), but I’m probably going to take my time on that one and mix it in with a different game or two here and there.

Fallen Earth is going F2P – which is good news for me because I don’t have enough time to play it to warrant a sub right now, but hate that I can’t just pop in and explore. The new combat overhaul was pretty interesting when I was last able to log in, and I’m looking forward to getting a character to max level there at some point.

I suspect I’ll give SWTOR and GW2 both a spin when they come out, but not sure I have long-term plans for either. I’m just not really feeling the MMO scene right now.

 Have a great weekend!

  1. Why invest in a game if you don’t plan to play it in the long-term though?

    • Fair question; at least with GW2 it’s a one-and-done purchase that I can come back to at any point without added cost. As for SWTOR, I just know my personality and suspect I’ll give into the hype and give it a whirl at launch. Who knows, maybe it’ll surprise me and rope me in.

  2. Fair enough. Yeah that is my fear with SWTOR as well. I really would rather play TSW, but the hype and with everyone and their mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law playing, I don’t think I will have a lot of options.

    • Yep, I’m sure a couple friends will want me to join in on the adventures in Star Wars land as well.
